Several Suspects Arrested in the UK Over Alleged Links to Iranian Espionage Network

According to the Metropolitan Police, four men were detained during the operation

LONDON

British police have announced the arrest of several individuals in connection with a security investigation related to suspected Iranian espionage activities. The operation was carried out by counter-terrorism officers in several areas of London and forms part of a broader investigation into possible foreign intelligence activities inside the United Kingdom.
According to the Metropolitan Police, four men were detained during the operation. Security officials stated that the suspects are believed to have been acting on behalf of a foreign intelligence entity and were allegedly involved in gathering information within the UK.
At the same time as the arrests, security forces searched several residential properties in north London and nearby areas. These searches were conducted as part of efforts to collect evidence and examine materials linked to the investigation.
Authorities said the inquiry is still ongoing and the detained individuals remain in custody for further questioning. A court has granted investigators additional time to continue interrogations while the investigation progresses.
The case comes amid repeated warnings from British security agencies in recent years about increasing foreign intelligence activities across Europe. Officials say preventing such operations remains a key priority for the country’s security services.
Police have not yet released further details about the identities of the suspects or the exact nature of their alleged activities. More information is expected to emerge as the investigation continues.
